Sydney Scherr – Alchemy Design Project

The opportunities we have to impact others and truly change lives can come to us when we least expect them. Maybe even while on vacation. I came face to face with child sex trafficking on vacation in Cambodia. The children’s plight haunted me, but inspired me to create Alchemy Design Project, a sustainable initiative that offers economic alternatives to the global preponderance of rescued survivors being re-trafficked. Alchemy Design Project cultivates tangible marketable opportunities through vocational training and drives real change.
Imagine taking a few days of your vacation to improve the lives of rescued survivors. Your life will be forever changed simply by teaching what you know! You will build pathways to economic and personal freedom for survivors!
This is Alchemy. I am delighted to share my idea and inspire a tidal wave of volunteer teachers!
Sydney Scherr started this project to teach sustainable jewelry design to victims of sex trafficking. She helps them create designs through simple techniques so that they can earn a living. She was honored to give a talk at TEDxAtlanta, 2023 to share the Alchemy Design Project story.
“Teaching these brave, strong and resilient young women has been the gift of my lifetime. They have shown me where hope lives and thrives. They have changed my life, and everyone who has had the privilege to work with these remarkable young women has had their lives changed, too!” More info at www.alchemydesignproject.org
